This is a fusion of the psynergy rebalancing thread, as well as a psynergy-specific-to-your-doujin-game thread. Post psynergies you come up with here, and discuss them with others. Though there is no required format, it is recommended that you provide as much info as possible for your ideas.

Remember, not only can you post new psynergy here, you can post ideas to rebalance already-existing psynergy. For example, here's an idea for healing psynregy from the old thread:

Legend: R = Range, Lv = Level, Anim = Animation number, Arg = Animation argument
c = Curative
b = Base damage
m = Multiplier
a = added damage


Also, don't be afraid to introduce psynergy with added effects. For example, a thunder psynergy that has a chance to stun the enemy, or a water psynergy that may put the affected targets to sleep. However, if it's not a pure-damage psynergy, remember to adjust the level and PP cost (or just lower the damage) to adjust for the added effect.

Okay, Each of these utilities will/are usable in battle in my hack (which I have put on hold because of Mario and Luigi).

Arrow will eventually have an attack that looks like an arrow. This one is also a multiplier with a chance of instand KO.

Tremor is a multiplier with a chance of hitting twice. It has an animation similar to Quake, but the one that only makes the screen shake (basically, 1.4).

I have no idea what will happen with Magnet. I will probably consider either HP/PP drain, or some other strange effect. However, I do want this to have a use.

I am also planning on something with Reflect, but I am not sure what to do with this either. It will most likely have something to do with reducing damage (similar to what one of the djinni does, I forget which one), and Reflect will only be usable on one target.

Manafire: Lv: 30-ish. Range: 1, Cost: 50% of PP remaining, Element: Mars, Power: amount of PP used to cast the spell x5

There are also other elemental versions of this, such as Jupiter Manathunder, Mercury Manafreeze, Venus Manastone, etc.

Yeah, that and the damage scaling... That'd require some serious changes to the code. I'd ask Atrius about it... There was an "Is this possible?" thread in the old forums. Perhaps you could restart it here and open it up with that question?

Magma Tide, Magma Flow, Magma Surge:

This is a Mars attack Psynergy series that affects all enemies equally.

Magma Tide: A small wave of lava flows around the enemies feet, and they get hit somewhat back. Range: All Enemies, Power: Base 13, PP cost: 5.

Magma Flow: A medium wave of lava similar to Raging Flood washes into the enemies, and they are hit back. Range: All Enemies, Power: Base 130, PP cost: 23.

Magma Surge: A large wave of lava similar to Watery Grave washes over the enemies, and they are hit a long way back. Range: All Enemies, Power: Base 195, PP cost: 39.

Hey, I plotted all the points on a graph for the original healing formula. WITH EXCEPTION to Pure Ply and Wish, they seem to follow a certain formula:


For Single healing:

y = 42.515e0.19x

IF Pure Ply was cost corrected, it would cost 17 PP

Multi-healing:

y = 1.6606x^1.7479

IF Pure Wish was cost corrected, it would cost 23 PP

For those of you who know how to plug in these formulas, great, you now have a baseline. If you don't, then put these values into microsoft excel:

The first one corresponds to Multi-target healing, the second to single-target healing. After entering them in, create a scatter chart for both charts. If you have the same kind I have, select 'layout 3', which provides a trendline though the data points. Edit the trendline until it takes a shape the most closely follows the apparent path of the data points. For Single-target, this seems to be 'exponential type'. For Multi-target, it appears to be 'Power type'. To see where the predicted extended line will go, choose to add forecasts for a certain number of periods, each period being 1 PP.

Alternatively, you can provide a 0/0 point on both... Doing so changes the equasions, though, and they become polynomial.

For single target:
y = 1.812x^2 + 10.292x + 10.713

Pure Ply's cost now shoots up to 21

For Multi target:
y = 0.6649x^2 + 2.536x + 0.2554

Following this, the value for Pure Wish becomes 23

Now, with this... healing is still kinda broken. However, this provides us with a basis. Just tweak the formula a bit, and you'll be able to find a better one.





In terms of level in which spells are learned...

y = 0.0363x^2 + 9.044x + 47.053

Seems to be the path for single target. It was hard to find, though, since ALL classes that have ply use that as the 'default psynergy' - the psynergy natural to the class at level 1. All but one of the classes that use cure had it as the default as well. The LONE EXCEPTION has it learned at level 3... THANK YOU, Medium. You're a piece of crap class, but you really came through for me on this. Ply seems to be learned at Level 6 if it's not the default spell. To my amusement, a spell with Pure Ply's power would have to be learned at level 80!


On the other hand, Multi-target was freaking easy. Only one class learns Aura, so I used that as the baseline. If a class learns the first wish spell before the first aura spell is learned, it's invalidated as viable data. Once I got some good data, the formula came out to be like this:

y = 0.0376x^2 + 4.9198x + 10.14

It's not very consistent, though... At least, not as much as other graphs I did. There's just not enough classes that learn Aura to be used in comparison... According to the graph, Aura should be learned at level 8 (amusingly, when Mia learns wish in her base class), Wish at level 13, Wish Well at 26, Cool Aura at 31, and if we use the outlier value rather than the adjusted value for Pure Ply, then it'd have to be learned at level 56!

Personally, I like these graphs. Just make healing spells cost more, and use these formulas as a basis for Power to Level Learned, and you should be good.

I'm gonna work on base damage psynergy next... I... may take a while figuring out how they went about it.



Did an alternate version for the healing potency... Lemme know what you think.

Edit: Wow, it's a good thing I did that, otherwise Warm would be learned at level 0 according to the formula! XD Surprisingly, the single-target heals lined up REALLY well on the line for power/level ratio.
